Competition for German Research works

Willy Brandt Center of German and European Studies (WBZ) announces a nationwide competition for the best master and doctoral thesis in the field of German Research.

WBZ is an interfaculty and interdisciplinary unit of the University of Wroclaw, created on the initiative of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in 2002. The Center`s task is conducting research and teaching in the field of German Studies. To support German Research in Poland and to give an opportunity of a good start to the young scholars, the Center announces a nationwide competition in two categories: the best master thesis and the best doctoral thesis. The graduates in various fields of study, who defended their works in 2009, can take part in the competition.

In case of master thesis a two-stage procedure will be applied. In the first stage group of the best works will be selected on the basis of  applications sent with a broad summary and an independent scholars`s opinion enclosed. Then the winners of the first stage will be asked for sending a typescript of their work. The deadline is the end of the year.

Typescripts of doctoral works must be sent till the end of January 2010.

Prize in the competition will be - next to a symbolic statuette of the patron of the Center, the German chancellor, Willy Brandt, a print of the work in one of the Center`s prestigious publishing sessions.

The results will be announced in April 2010, the ceremony of awarding will take place in May 2010. The parton of the competition is His Magnificence Rector of the UWr, Prof. habil. Marek Bojarski.
