Willy-Brandt-Zentrum for German and European Studies (WBZ) - Library Code of Conduct

 

I. General Provisions

 

§1

 

Library material of the WBZ is available:

1/ in the reading room,

2/ by borrowing: for PhD students and WBZ staff,

3/ by inter-library loan.


§2

 

Authorized to use the library are:

1/ individuals,

2/ libraries authorized to inter-library loan.

 

§3

 

Users of the library are obliged to handle the provided books and media with care. Users are responsible for any damages and deficiencies caused. Damages and deficiencies existing at the time of borrowing must be reported to the librarian.

 

§4

 

Opening hours of the library and changes of the same will be announced by public notice.

 

 

II. Reading Room


§5

 

Authorized to the reading room are all interested people showing a valid document of identification.

 

§6


Users are granted access to the reading room if they:

1/ leave jackets, binders, bags, rucksacks and the like in the cloakroom,

2/ leave a readable entry in the user’s book and show a valid ID to the librarian,

3/ comply for our request of silence; use of mobile phones is forbidden,

4/ comply for our request of cleanliness; eating, drinking, smoking and the like is forbidden,

5/ get the approval of the librarian for any additional electronic device used,

6/ are not copying library material with any electronic device other than available in the WBZ,

7/ do not remove or attempt to remove library materials and equipment.

Usage of books and current press in the reading room:

1/ is possible by showing a valid ID,

2/ requires the user to fill in a library ticket, that includes information about the reading material and personal data; the ticket needs to be signed by the librarian,

3/ is limited to the usage of 5 items per section, 5 items of current press and 5 items of a journal of the same year,

4/ requires the user to handle the library material with care and to return it,

5/ includes copying when the librarian approves it.

Computers in the reading room:

1/ are solely intended for searching the library database,

2/ are provided to users by the librarian.
