Public Roundtable “Migration and Populism in Europe”

 

This roundtable gathers scholars from Poland and Germany dealing with Migration and Populism. The discussion focuses on current populist challenges in European countries and the role of migration for populist mobilization in the context of the upcoming European elections. This roundtable’s main questions are the following: 

 

  • What role does migration play in the rise of far-right populism in Europe? 
  • How do the politics focusing on ethnonationalism overlap with populist claims?
  • How do parties and political entrepreneurs in Europe instrumentalise migration issues?
  • What are the main features of the migration-orientated populism in CEE?
  • What are the challenges of populism for democracy in CEE?
