Journal for European Studies (in preparation)
The Journal for European Studies (JES) is planning to publish original and well-researched articles with a focus on the European Union, European integration, and Europe in a larger sense. Its perspective is interdisciplinary, integrating political science, history, sociology and economics. The editors are also open to submissions based in other social sciences and legal science. The main aim of the journal is providing a forum for an international community of scholars.
The JES is an independent journal, based in the Willy Brandt Center for German and European Integration at the University of Wroclaw (Poland). One of the journal’s aims is to encourage scholarly publications dealing with perspectives on European integration coming from Central and Eastern Europe.
The JES shows not only interest in specific policies of the European Union, which dominate in today’s journals dealing with the EU, but also in politics and polity aspects of the European Union. Here, issues such as the legitimacy of the EU and its democratic quality, nationalism, the institutional setting of the EU or a European collective identity are of special interest. In particular, the journal opens its pages to authors working at the frontiers of social analysis focusing on Europe. We encourage both qualitative and quantitative studies of scholarly character.
Contributions are published in English. Given the interdisciplinary nature, authors are encouraged to write in lucid language.
Peer Review
All research articles in this journal undergo double-blind peer review, based on initial editor screening and refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.
Structure:
The JES publishes submitted research articles, addresses critical developments and controversies in the European Studies in the Forum section. Moreover, it offers reviews of the State of the Art in the Current Research section. In addition, the JES publishes Special Issues which are an opportunity to explore areas of particular interests for the Journal’s readers.
