How will the European Union look like after implementation of the Lisbon Treaty?
Willy Brandt Center of German and European Studies and the Law Faculty of the University of Wroclaw organized discussion panel "Lisbon shape of the European Union" on 24.11.2009. The meeting was moderated by Prof. Ireneusz P. Karolewski. In his speech "Sovereignty, identity of the states and the problem of primacy of law in the EU in the Lisbon Treaty," Prof. Krzysztof Wójtowicz discussed issues of sovereignty of the member states and of transfer of competence to the EU institutions, of collision of the EU and national law, as well as of introducing extra-legal concepts to the Lisbon Treaty. In his presentation "Basic changes in the operation of EU institutions," dr. Robert Grzeszczak presented in details legal nature and structure of the Treaty, systemic changes, changes in EU decission-making process, as well as the catalogue and reform of EU institutions.  The discussion panel was held with audience, which took a great interest in both speeches. The speakers answered multiple questions. The meeting was moderated by Prof. I. P. Karolewski. |
